Keep Houston Beautiful

Keep Houston Beautiful (KHB) was founded in 1979 as a 501(c)(3) organization under the auspices of the Houston Clean City Commission with the goal of creating a clean and beautiful city. Its mission is to foster awareness of the important role residents play in preserving the natural beauty and visual amenities of the City of Houston.

Over the years, KHB has learned that the way to lasting improvement is through education and a change in individuals’ attitudes toward their personal responsibility toward the environment. To help raise awareness and promote community involvement, KHB organizes neighborhood clean-ups and beautification activities for Keep Houston Beautiful Day in April each year and the Fall Sweep in October/November. 

KHB also sponsors the Mayor’s Proud Partners Award Luncheon, which recognizes the efforts of individuals, businesses, and community organizations to enhance the environmental landscape of the Houston area.
